I. Concrete Structural Modeling & Design

Course Objective

This course provides a comprehensive guide to the end-to-end design cycle of Reinforced Concrete (RC) structures using Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis. Students will master the transition from initial UI setup and structural modeling to the application of complex loads and analysis. The final goal is to produce professional-grade structural design reports and construction drawings compliant with industry standards.

Weekly Schedule

  1. User Interface: Navigation, Desktop Layouts, and Environment Settings

  2. Basic Workflow: Understanding the Integrated Structural Design Process

  3. Start a Project: Project Templates and Preferences Initialization

  4. Preliminary Setup: Defining Structural Axis, Levels, and Materials

  5. Prepare the Model: Modeling RC Beams, Columns, and Slabs

  6. Structural Loads: Definition of Dead, Live, and Environmental Load Cases

  7. Load Combination: Generation of Manual and Automatic Load Combinations

  8. Prepare the Analysis: Meshing Parameters and Analysis Type Selection

  9. Run the Analysis: Executing Calculations and Troubleshooting Errors

  10. Analysis Results: Interpreting Bending Moments, Shear, and Displacement

  11. Concrete Design: Calculation of Required/Provided Reinforcement

  12. Apply Results: Verifying and Updating the Model with Design Data

  13. Quantity Take-off: Extracting Concrete and Rebar Schedules

  14. Structural Drawing: Generating Detailed RC Construction Drawings

  15. Design Report: Printing Comprehensive Concrete Design Reports
